bliss list ~ may

I decided to return for a quick Bliss List.  Can you believe it's the last day of May?  Can I believe I still have three more days of school?  We've NEVER gone to school in June before.  This is a true first and not an item on my Bliss List so I'll move on...

Powdered Donuts ~ One day while in a classroom I had my first craving.  I needed powdered donuts and I needed them stat!  Of course I couldn't leave school (although I did contemplate it) and managed to wait until my work day was over to drive to Target and pick up a package.  Luckily, this craving has subsided and I no longer have to start the day with a sugary carb-fest.

{the powdered donut also made an appearance in September's Bliss List}

Flowers/Edible Garden ~ Last weekend we were blessed with beautiful weather and went to town in the yard.  Hubby, a friend, and my brother mulched around our landscaping while I trimmed bushes and planted flowers.  It was an exhausting day but everything looks so nice.  I love spring, when everything is so fresh and green.  Hopefully we can keep it that way through the summer heat.

Frozen Custard ~ People have asked me if I have had any cravings and I haven't really (with the exception of the powdered donut day).  However, I'll never turn down some good ice cream, especially if it is frozen custard.  Our favorite - Sheridan's.  I feel I am entitled to this decadent treat for three reasons.  One, it contains both calcium and protein (I always get a peanut butter concrete); two, it's almost summer and ice cream is always okay in the summer; three, it's so close to our house... and maybe that's not a good thing.

Berries ~ I'm so excited that soon summer fruit will be widely available at stores and markets.  I've already taken advantage of the early batch and have enjoyed many a snacks of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

Maternity Jeans ~ I'm thankful the school year is nearly over because I am quickly running out of clothes I can wear to work.  I just didn't see the sense in spending a lot of money on maternity plants when the BeBand was working fairly well.  I do, however love my maternity jeans.  I have three pairs and they are so comfortable!  I never thought jeans would feel so nice!

And here is me looking comfy at 29 weeks - I hit 30 on Wednesday!

too sweet!

Thanks to all of your sweet words about my blog break.  The other night Hubby said to me, "You know, I think you're going to get bored this summer and will miss your blog".  He's probably right.  Things have just felt quite overwhelming the past few weeks at work; I feel like I've lost my creative drive.  But the end of the school year is near and hopefully then I'll feel refreshed, creative again, and might feel the itch to pick up the blog.  If you can, wait and stay tuned...

signing off

I'm ready for a break.  Work has been busy and I'm ready for summer.  Summer will bring on a new kind of busy, which I am excited but somewhat unprepared for.  In an effort to make life more simple and to focus on what is important, I've decided to take a break from blogging for awhile.  I'm not sure when I'll return, if I'll return, or what a return might look like but I do know it's time for me to move apart from some things that take up my time.  I still love the concept of blogs and have many I will continue to read for enjoyment or inspiration.  Thanks to all who have read my blog about my daily musings of life.  It has been a fun little adventure and hope I might return again in one form or another.

happy birthday

Happy birthday to my little sister!

I hope you have a happy day filled with sleeping in, good morning television, a sunny baseball game, and a good dinner!

frugal finds

Rather than share some thrifty finds at Target on this Monday, I thought I would showcase some baby bargains hubby and I landed this weekend. My search began on craigslist. We needed a dresser for Babe but I wasn't crazy about spending $300-$400. While browsing craigslist I found an overstock warehouse near our home that has tons of dressers, changing tables, rockers, gliders - you name it and they had it. And all of it was also available at Babies R Us so I was able to price compare. We were getting a deal. A great deal - I'm talking nearly half the price. So with my parents and sister in town, we set out on caravan to the warehouse and found some great deals on stuff for babe.
They had so many dressers there it was a bit overwhelming at first. Hubby actually chose this one. I like that the top is wide enough for a changing pad and other items. The drawers are on metal sliders so it's a smooth rolls, they're deep and will hold a lot. The cupboard has two shelves - also great for storage. And Hubby liked the fan-look of the cupboard door. :)

I wanted a rocker or glider for the late night feedings and lazy afternoons during my maternity leave. Again, so many choices but we landed on this rocker. It will be going in our bedroom. Babe's room is quickly filling up and I like the idea of being able to rock Babe in our bedroom with some company of Hubby and the television. It also reclines, which is an extra bonus. Hubby likes the fact he now has somewhere to sit and put on his shoes in the morning. :)

I feel like we're making some good progress in the furniture area for the nursery. Really, the crib is the last big thing we need aside from a few decorating details. Time is ticking away with only three months left but we're definitely getting there.

What a beautiful spring day.

The sun is shining, family is coming to town, will see some good friends...it's a good day.

nursery inspiration

Our nursery is still a VERY BIG work in progress.  As in not much progress has been made.  At all.  Right now, it's been a dumping ground for all things we do already have for Babe - clothes, books, toys, swing, tub, stroller - it's more like a giant closet than a nursery.  I know we'll get there and getting it organized is something I'm sickly excited about.  For now, here are some adorable nurseries I found via Home Sweet Home.

frugalista ~ part 5

Since I was late in posting April's Bliss List, my Frugalista post is a day late too.  What do you do?

Did you know Liberty of London at Target carries their print in baby clothes?  I first discovered this when I saw this post over at Making It Lovely.  They are super cute!

They have little girls clothing as well but I'll save those for another day, another post.

bliss list ~ april

I'm a little late with the Bliss List for April.  The last week of April was a busy one and time slipped away from me.  I had every intention to prepare and schedule the post, but that didn't happen.  So, with a few days into May, here are the things I loved in April:

The Sun ~ While we have had our share of raining days this month, I have loved rising with the sun, feeling it's warmth, and seeing it linger well into the evening hours.  This is one of my favorite times of year.  I love the longer stretch of daylight.

Storm Clouds ~ I know it's pretty contradictory that I mention the sun and storms in the same post but there is nothing like watching a spring storm come.  Granted, I do not enjoy dangerous storms but there's something both exciting and calming in seeing those dark clouds approaching, knowing we're due for some thunder and a soaking rain.

Yoga/Stretch Pants ~ I've always been a fan of comfy pants but they have a entirely new meaning for me now.  I LOVE them.  They are my standard after work and all weekend wear.

Strawberries ~ They're starting to pop up at a more reasonable price in the grocery store and I am thrilled!  I can't wait for fresh fruit all summer long.  A little strawberry shortcake may be in order.

Glee ~ Hubby was into this show last season before I really had chance to watch it with him.  I finally watched a few of the final season one episodes with him and can't get enough.  If you haven't seen this show, you must check it out.  I bought the first season for Hubby (okay, yes, it was probably just as much for me) and we're hooked now that the second season has started.
